The Prop Firm Calculator is a professional trading risk management tool designed to help traders monitor their compliance with proprietary trading firm rules. Whether you're trading with FTMO, MyForexFunds, FundedNext, The Funded Trader, or any other prop firm, this calculator tracks your daily and overall drawdowns, monitors consistency rules, and ensures you stay within the parameters required for successful funded trading.
What it means: This rule limits how much you can lose in a single trading day, calculated from your highest balance (high-water mark) achieved during that day. This is the #1 reason traders fail prop firm challenges.
Initial Account: $200,000
Daily Drawdown Limit: 3% = $6,000
Scenario:
โข Start of day balance: $205,000
โข During the day, you reach: $207,000 (new high-water mark)
โข Your daily drawdown limit is now: $207,000 - $6,000 = $201,000
โข If your balance drops to $200,500, you've violated the rule
The daily drawdown resets every day at midnight (server time). Your high-water mark for daily drawdown calculation starts fresh each trading day. This applies to FTMO, MyForexFunds, FundedNext, and virtually all prop firms.
What it means: This rule limits your total losses from the initial account balance. It never resets and is calculated from your starting balance. Every major prop firm including The Funded Trader, True Forex Funds, and others use this rule.
Initial Account: $200,000
Overall Drawdown Limit: 5% = $10,000
Your account balance can NEVER drop below:
$200,000 - $10,000 = $190,000
Even if you've made profits:
โข Current balance: $215,000 (after profitable trading)
โข Overall drawdown limit still: $190,000
โข This rule protects the firm's initial investment
What it means: This rule ensures that no single trading day represents more than a specified percentage (typically 15-30%) of your total profits. This prevents "lottery ticket" trading strategies.
Consistency Rule: 15% (common for FTMO and FundedNext)
Your trading results over 10 days:
Day 1: +$2,000, Day 2: +$1,500, Day 3: +$800
Day 4: +$1,200, Day 5: +$3,000, Day 6: +$900
Day 7: +$1,100, Day 8: +$1,800, Day 9: +$700, Day 10: +$1,000
Total Profit: $14,000
Largest Single Day: $3,000 (Day 5)
Percentage: $3,000 รท $14,000 = 21.4%
Result: VIOLATION (exceeds 15% limit)
When you first access the calculator after logging in, you'll see the setup form. Here's how to configure it for different prop firms:
FTMO: Daily 3%, Overall 5%, Consistency 15%
MyForexFunds: Daily 3%, Overall 6%, Consistency 30%
FundedNext: Daily 3%, Overall 5%, Consistency 15%
The Funded Trader: Daily 3%, Overall 6%, Consistency 20%
True Forex Funds: Daily 3%, Overall 5%, Consistency 15%
Double-check these values with your specific prop firm's rules document. While most firms have similar rules, the exact percentages can vary. FTMO and FundedNext are typically stricter than MyForexFunds on consistency rules.
After setup, you'll see a 14-day trading log table. This works for any prop firm challenge or live account:
Entering Daily P&L:
Understanding the Columns:
The status panel at the top shows your current compliance level for any prop firm:
All rules are being followed. You can continue trading within established parameters for your prop firm.
You're approaching a rule limit. Exercise extreme caution with your next trades. This is critical for maintaining your funded account.
You've exceeded one or more rules. This would result in account termination with any real prop firm including FTMO, MyForexFunds, or FundedNext.
To calculate how much you can afford to lose today without violating the daily drawdown rule (works for all prop firms):
Current Balance: $205,000
Today's High-Water Mark: $207,000
Daily Drawdown Limit: $6,000 (3%)
Minimum Allowed Balance Today:
$207,000 - $6,000 = $201,000
Your Current Buffer:
$205,000 - $201,000 = $4,000
Maximum Loss You Can Take: $4,000
Use your drawdown limits to determine safe position sizes for any prop firm:
Daily Buffer Available: $4,000
Risk per Trade: 1% of buffer = $40
Stop Loss: 20 pips
Pip Value (EUR/USD): $10 per pip
Maximum Position Size:
$40 รท (20 pips ร $10) = 0.2 lots
This ensures you can take multiple trades safely
Most prop firms require a profit target (typically 8-10% of initial balance). Here's how to track your progress:
Initial Account: $200,000
Profit Target: 8% = $16,000
Current Balance: $205,000
Current Profit:
$205,000 - $200,000 = $5,000
Remaining to Target:
$16,000 - $5,000 = $11,000
Progress: 31.25% complete
